Yoga & Pilates

As a Yoga Instructor, Danielle started off with Ashtanga which she adored for its creation of tapas, or heat within the body, and its inspiring and graceful flow.  Since then, she has branched out to include other styles such as Sivananda, Restorative and Pre- and Post-Natal.  Her classes are now generally a blend of all of her yogic influences, combined with deep healing work, mantra, pranayama and sometimes including a sound session.

"Yoga by its very meaning is to "yoke", or unite, the Spirit to the Body.  I believe it is quite impossible to teach that to anyone, as it is very intimately a part of their own personal journey.  Therefore, I approach my classes as though I were entering a class myself, to be guided on the spot, and everyone there is joining me in a Sacred Yogic Dance, open to whatever Healing, Guidance, Peace and Divinity that may be prepared to move and breathe with us..."

Pilates Method

The Pilates Method of body conditioning has more than nine decades of success behind it for creating a healthy mind, body and spirit. Most people today are aware of the Pilates Method and its many benefits for muscle toning & strengthening, improved posture, flexibility and balance.

As one develops core strength, they simultaneously develop stability throughout the entire torso and grace throughout the body.  A wonderful 'side effect' of practicing the Pilates method is that as the torso and pelvis are stabilized, pressure on the back is relieved and the body can move freely and efficiently.

Though compared often to yoga, it is only similar in that when properly applied, it can become a moving meditation which lengthens, strengthens, and defines the graceful body.  In this way, we can put the "yoga" into Pilates, while practicing this technique will aid any yoga practitioner in increasing core strength more quickly than a yoga practice alone.

Through the Pilates Method, we reach these philosophies by using the principles of concentration, control, fluidity, precision, breath and intuition.

Partner Yoga

This is nothing short of a transformational experience.  One thing we are missing in today's fast paced society, is touch.  In this workshop you will be receiving a deeply relaxing yoga session with the added benefits of traditional thai style massage techniques.  We will focus much more on the bodywork, healing and balancing aspects of deep yoga than on the acrobatics of partner asanas.

Traditional Thai Massage utilizes such deep therapeutic techniques as reflexology, acupressure, muscle kneading, scalp massage and the opening of energy lines.  This system is based upon practices which have been maintained in temples, monasteries and ashrams for thousands of years.

Yoga Therapy  (Private and Group Sessions)

Just Breathe...
Utilizing her training in Traditional Thai Massage and her studies in Ayurveda, Danielle is able to assess an individual or small group in order to devise a very personal, practical and beneficial yoga program to apply to oneself on a daily basis.  Yoga Therapy cultivates body/mind integration and a sense of harmony within one's life. It promotes the innate healing resources of the body, helping to restore the proper functioning of the relationship between the bodily systems.

Yoga therapists are experienced yoga teachers who have undertaken further extensive training in healing, wholistic arts, and one-on-one methods which provide grounding in the application of yoga to the individual.  No matter your age, physical capabilities, health condition or financial situation, we will work to devise a program for you which is enjoyable, effective, rewarding and long lasting.

Yoga works to treat illness by improving health on all levels simultaneously and by restoring inner harmony. Illness occurs when the total balance of perfect health is disrupted. Although the original disrupting influence may only affect one level first, this disturbance soon spreads.  Daily practice of a complete yoga program restores one's natural balance and harmony, bringing positive good health to all aspects of life - physical, mental and spiritual.  All Yoga is considered therapeutic.
